At 3Comm Park, the San Francisco fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Wm.
Vanlandingham(1-0) finally bested his New York (NL) opposite, Brian
Bohanon(0-1), by the score of 2 to 1.
 
Vanlandingham gave San Francisco a solid outing.  He went 7 innings
surrendering 3 hits and 4 walks.  Both teams finished the game with 4 hits.
 
Vanlandingham got help from Rod Beck who was credited with his 1st save.
Bohanon was charged with the loss.  He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings giving up 3
hits and 3 walks.
