METS RALLY FALLS SHORT- DODGERS AVOID SWEEP

Ramon Martinez pitched 7 strong innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated
the New York (NL) Mets by a score of 7 to 4 at Dodger Stadium.Martinez(2-0)
got help from Todd Worrell who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with
his 3rd save.

Mark Clark(1-1) took the loss. Los Angeles scored big getting 6 runs off him
in 5 and 1/3 innings.

The Mets rally came to late in the game, in the top of the 8th inning Ordonez grounded out, hardtke hit a fly ball for an out, but in stepped McRae who launched a deep shot to left pulling the Mets back. Alfonzo ripped a sharp single to get on and Olerud jacked a 2 run shot for a 3 run rally. Unfortunatly the Dodgers pitching cracked down and preserved the win and avoided being swept at home. Graham was a little heated in the clubhouse. "9 INNINGS.....WE PLAY 9 FUCKING INNINGS HARD....we didnt show up until the 8th, aint' gonna cut, this aint no bush league or AAA bullshit, this is the bigs, gotta play hard for 9 innings. I've preached it over and over in spring training. Looks like we're comin into work on our off day"
